Self Harming
Aims: What compels someone to commit an act of self harm? Is it the same as a suicide attempt? What can a carer/parent do? Do we intervene? Do we ignore it? – the session is designed to unravel some of the complexities of self harming in an attempt to offer a therapeutic level of support
The course includes the following subjects:
• Why would someone self harm? What happens to the brain when they do
• How can we support a person who self harms?
• Planning to manage the risk and planning for the future

45 Minute Online Zoom Training Session
Please log on 15 minutes before the start time using the email link that will be sent to you the evening before the session.
Please use a device that has access to a camera, screen and microphone, eg, smartphone or PC.
Make sure that you are in a calm, safe environment where you will not be disturbed for an hour.
Assessment: The trainer will check understanding and involvement of all students throughout the duration of the course.
Certification: On successful completion of the course students will receive a certificate of participation.
