Sylvia and Samantha (mother and daughter) have played in many orchestras together throughout the years
Sylvia Barry studied Music at Liverpool University. She was principal violinist for several orchestrasin the North West, including Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Orchestra, Port Sunlight Orchestra, and Warrington Music Society Orchestra. As well as performing concertos by Bach, Beethoven, Bruch, Mozart, Vaughan Williams, Vivaldi, Sylvia has given many solo and chamber music recitals. She currently leads the Wessex String Orchestra.
Sylvia also performs with a pianist for weddings and private functions.

This coming Friday the 21st of September is World Peace Day, the International Day of Peace.
On this day there will be official world wide cease fire, enabling vital aid to gain access to areas cut off by war and to bring all of humanity together in a day of focus on peace. To celebrate and participate in this momentous occasion join us at Holwell Village Hall (near Sherborne in Dorset).
The aim of this event is to provide a space for music, poetry, art, story telling, games or any other form of shared entertainment that we can all enjoy, although the day is about peace the subject matter is down to the individual.
Entrance is a suggested donation of £1 and there will be refreshments and drinks which will also be by donation. There is ample car parking and the evening is expected to start around 7pm and finish about 11pm. All proceeds to Holwell Village Hall for upkeep and running as a community resource.

The annual Tolpuddle Martyrs' Festival is a unique event. There has been a celebaration of the Tolpuddle story every year since the 1930s and the Festival is a key date for the Labour Movement. But it is a lot more than a rally for trade unionists.
Over the weekend there will be lots of debates and discussions on a wide range of topics. Controversial subjects will be tackled. Leading speakers will inform, captivate, inspire, argue with, rant at and challenge us. Between or even instead of the politics there will be a diverse mixture of some cracking music. Many performers will reflect the exciting burst of radical new talent that is emerging. Some old favourites will be there too.stage and crowd
The enclosed Kids' Area will host a new menu of fun for children of all agesmarch front and we plan to develop ideas for teenagers.
The Sunday welcomes lots more people who come for the day and the grand procession of banners through the village. Wreaths are laid on the grave of Martyr' James Hammett.
