Tues 30th Jan, 6th Feb, 13th Feb 2018 - ASD / Dementia Awareness Training - 10am-1pm
Autistic Spectrum Disorder Awareness or Dementia Awareness Training
at Tinneys Lane Youth & Community Centre in Sherborne, Dorset.
This funded training is especially for individuals and small local groups;
eg. family carers, youth, voluntary and community clubs.
This type of training is widely available, but can cost up to £120 per delegate.
It is challenging for families to care for a loved one who has a mental health condition at home.
A professional carer will be trained to provide appropriate care; the family carer rarely gets that opportunity.
We are providing affordable training close to home, at a convenient time and as cheaply as possible,
whilst making use of the great local community facilities at Tinneys Lane.
Initial courses will run 10am-1pm on
Tue 30th Jan - Dementia Awareness
Tue 6th Feb - Autistic Spectrum Disorder Awareness
Tue 13th Feb - Autistic Spectrum Disorder Awareness
To apply for a £10 place on one of these training days please message or email us with your email addresses for confirmation information to be sent to, and names as you would like them to appear on the certificates - [email protected]
Payment either by cash on the day, or by bank transfer. Invoices can be provided by request. In partnership with Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles Community Fund and Simply Training.
Autistic Spectrum Disorder Awareness
The session will cover information on how ASD works, why some behaviours happen, Neuro Sensitivity and the Triad of Impairments. As a group we will then look at how we can manage situations, de-escalate behaviour and manage potentially harmful or stressful situations, while ensuring that the person in our care is safe, respected and able to live as fulfilling a life as possible.
Dementia Awareness
We will look at the different illnesses that cause Dementia: Parkinson's, Altzheimers, Lewy Bodies etc, how they affect the brain and behaviour. Practical advice on managing behaviour and daily life, to reduce risks and harm to the cared for person and the carer.

Leading speakers will inform, captivate, inspire, argue with, rant at and challenge us. Between or even instead of the politics there will be a diverse mixture of some cracking music. Many performers will reflect the exciting burst of radical new talent that is emerging. Some old favourites will be there too. The Sunday welcomes lots more people who come for the day and the grand procession of banners through the village.

Bridport Folk Festival - July 27th-29th 2018
BearCat Craft Tent & SwapShop
PLUS Storytelling in our new Flollop Lounge
"Following it’s success, Bridport Folk Festival has been accepted by the Town and as always, Bridport rose to the occasions.
We enjoyed a wonderful influx of visitors who wished us well , contributed in cash and kind and generally embraced what we offered in a positive and appreciative manner.
Many people likening it to Sidmouth for it's warmth and hospitality, “the most friendly festival we’ve been to in years" ... “Well organized and a comprehensive programme!“ ... “Well done Bridport!“ ... “it took similar festivals years to reach the point where you started!" These comments, probably made in the excitement of a new Festival, were however much appreciated and warmly received.
Complacency doesn’t make a Festival better though. Picking up on the basic errors and addressing shortfalls makes a better Festival and that is a lesson we are learning, and learning fast!"
